Special Projects
Knitting camp for kids!
July 14-17, and/or August 12-15
The essentials:
4 days, 10 AM-noon (with apologies to those who would like a longer activity...)
Ages: 8 and above
Cost: $80, includes materials
Taught by: Sarah Frazer, enthusiastic knitter, high school biology teacher, cool person
Content:
- Learn basic knit and purl stitches--students will make a cotton dischcloth and a soap bag (if there's time)
- Explore the characteristics of different fibers used in knitting and learn about the process of making a 'knittable' yarn
- Choose and complete a needle-felting project
Enrollment is limited to 8. Students will be encouraged to practice in the afternoons/evenings, but this can be done at the beach or on a blanket in the backyard.
Snacks will be provided, so we will need to know about any food allergies, and we will expect parents to provide contact information for any emergencies.
